Town Square

Express endorses DeSaulnier, Buchanan, Swalwell and local measures

Original post made on Nov 1, 2012

For California, a state with a large Democratic Party majority, we won't be the state that decides the presidential race and some of us may be voting long after the polls in those key states have closed. But we will be the decision-makers in voting for Town Council, for Congress and on a multitude of propositions and measures awaiting our decision. Several of these races could be very close.

Are there any Republicans at all you endorse for office? Are you the Danville Express or The Democrat Express? I guess that is why you pay liberal Tom Cushings to write his weekly hit pieces on Republicans. Danville had highest number of registered Republicans of any city or town in Bay Area, East Bay, Peninsula, or South Bay. Maybe us Republicans should boycott any businesses that advertise on your site.

" age 31, Stark promises to bring new energy and younger ideas to Congress".

I think a little editing is in order.

C'mon 'Republican' -- enough belly-achin'. If you want to present an alternative point-of-view, what's stopping you from writing your own blog and posting it here, or at least commenting regularly on the views of others? Or do you do that already, under another nom-de-keyboard? You should get plenty of support, if you're right about the registration numbers.

I, for one, would love to have the opportunity to snarkify on some good ol' rock-ribbed commentary! So belly-up to the bar and have at it!

Republican, I feel the same way and have for a while. The local Patch publications are left leaning as well. Must be part of the vocation. Anyone out there who can start a local publication which leans more towards the right would have my advertising dollars and readership in a heart beat!

Ohhhhh Carole, don't let 'em steal your voice away,
You've got to learn to blog -- if it takes you all night and day!

Regarding the comments....I totally agree with Republication, Oops and Carole...They have their head screwed on correctly.

Now for Citizen Paine, Your mother should have taught you many years ago that if you can not say anything nice to others, don't say anything at all...another words keep you mouth shut. Citizen Paine, I know you mean well, but you offer nothing of interest.

And yes, Tom Cushings is another liberal that uses his head for a hat rack.

The Danville Express and the Danville Patch do not report the news they try very hard to make the news and push their ideas on to others.

They are a sad bunch...They should stay in the middle and just report the news and stop dictating to others.

Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion. Julia Pardini from Alamo

Republican and Carole are correct. Interesting only liberal socialists are being endorsed. What a crock. Vote against any proposition the DEMS and express support. Do NOT raise your own taxes. Tom Cushing's ravings are ridiculous and citizen Paine always goes to the dem play book---nanny nanny name calling.

Well, if the Republicans HAD a candidate in the race for the 15th congressional district, then maybe there would be a Republican worthy of an endorsement.

Geez, I thought I was offering a good suggestion to Rep and Carole -- one that might relieve some of that nasty leebrul stench around here. I guess not everyone is a Chuck Berry fan.

I'm sure Cushing will take proper heed of your constructive critiques. Terms like hat-rack, ravings, ridiculous, and hit-pieces really go straight to the issues -- great discussion! One thing you have to say though: hundreds of people read him every week, and only the same few readers ever object.

The Express is turning into a Libby rag. There are MANY conservatives in the tri valley area......but speaking out only triggers nasty names from the socialists.....Julia is right on

Sticks-n-stones, Ray. Are you really that timid?

And come to think of it, I've seen a Lot more personal attacks coming from the Right, and more actual discourse from us Lefties.

No one of either party should endorse Joan Buchanan for anything representing this area. When she was with the school district, she was one of the key players who "cooked the books" the public saw that killed the old school bus program that we were paying for individually. She then endorsed the parcel tax specifically for school buses that still did not allocate any buses WE PAID FOR for the SRVUSD schools with the most dangerous traffic routes for kids biking/walking to school (T. Hills, DVMS, MVHS, etc.). Then, when she parlayed her SRVUSD position into her current Assembly election, she couldn't wait to dump that position within the first year to try and grab Tauscher's vacated US Congressional seat but failed. She is not interested in doing the job the people "hired" her to do, but just climb the public service ladder while leaving a wake of pi**ed off people who need to live with her decisions. She only has HER interests in mind, not the District. VOTE HER OUT.

Joan Buchanan continues to be the proxy of California teachers' union. She has resisted numerous measures to build more accountably into education and teacher performance. She did the same when she was a board member in the school district and now she continues to do the same, just on a bigger stage.

And the papers wonder why their subscriptions are down. You alienate anyone that leans right or is republican. Now that we havE the www we no longer need the the traditional outlets for our news. Your days of power are over, we reject you.

Citizen Paine,

Although I am far from agreeing with your position, I think your use of Chuck Berry's
"Carol" is cute.

You are so correct, Frank and Matty! Buchanan's record proves her
position as a teacher's union puppet. She has to go!

Once again the voters of California didn't fail to let me down... If you don't like the status quo, STOP voting incumbents back to office and STOP voting for propositions that bail out their over-spending/debt-serving ways... For a state that considers itself "intelligent", it sure is not when it comes to fiscal responsibility.
