The East Bay Regional Park District Police Department recently announced Officer Barry Lindsey as its 2016 Officer of the Year.

Lindsey was chosen as an exemplary officer from the park district’s police ranks, which are headquartered in Castro Valley. As a dirt bike patrol officer, his beat includes the Iron Horse Regional Trail.

Officers could nominate others for the honor if a peer exhibited strengths in the fields of customer service, exceptional performance of duty, police service ability, leadership ability, community service and ongoing education/continuing professional training, parks spokeswoman Carolyn Jones said.

The parks police department also honored Dispatch Supervisor Stacey Kenney as its 2016 Dispatcher of the Year.
