SRVUSD responds to Fox News allegations of secrecy with LGBTQ clubs

Original post made on Dec 21, 2021

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District made an appearance on national media recently, with conservative talk show host Tucker Carlson airing a segment on Fox News with allegations targeting local PRISM and GSA clubs.

I would love to see Blaire Wyatt try and walk back what she said as a response to this news article and what she said in the video.

Blair Wyatt said: “If we can get this to happen at lunch, that seems like a really good structure to protect the kids and their identity and allow them to attend.”

(Removed). Blair Wyatt meant HIDE the kids identity from their parents.

Wow! Folks, wake up and realize what’s going on here - it’s happening in Danville. It’s no joke. Watch the video.

This is exactly why so many parents are considering pulling their kids out of the local public schools, and sending them to private schools. Some teachers appear to be pushing their own agendas, and getting into areas that should be left to the parents and their children. We need to get back to teaching the simple golden rule-"treat others as you would want to be treated", rather than "encouraging" elementary school age children into certain behavior. The golden rule teaching would stop bullying, without sending the message to children that certain behavior is encouraged.

Our so called educational systems have overstepped and are pushing political and social agendas. The 3R's no longer are important.
And these "educators" know what they are doing is wrong... otherwise they would not be trying to hide it AND silence parents. Just my opinion.

Disturbing how public schools around the country are seemingly obsessed with the sexuality of our children standing on their self appointed high horse dictating what they think is most appropriate when it comes to educating our impressionable children about their sexuality.

Why is SRVUSD creating a policy to lie and deceive the community? What are the professional consequences (if any) for a district employee like Ilana Israel Samuels constantly lying to the public? If there is no consequence, could it follow that lies a deception are the official policy of SRVUSD administration?

Further, as I noted to the Board (after verifying this fact with SRVUSD’s “EQUITY” administrator) regarding the “PRISM Club” meetings: No parental permission is required, and no parental notice of a child’s attendance is supplied — thereby circumventing parents, NOT SUPPORTING them (as federal code requires).

That clearly struck a nerve; near the end of the meeting, Superintendent John Malloy commented:

“…I know that some of the members of our community who aren’t here now, but I’ll make this comment, and it’ll be part of our Board highlights.

“Just to clarify that um, [when it] comes to clubs, in our elementary schools — and I’m speaking about all clubs: yes, we have PRISM Club, and we support that. But we also have Chess Clubs on some campuses. We have Learning Circles, and there are a myriad of other opportunities at some schools; some schools have more, some schools have less.

“Though our expectation is absolutely clear that the principals communicate what those clubs are, and parents always have the right to say they would like their child not to participate…. In light of some of the concerns that have been raised, we’re revisiting that process.

“We met with all of our principals and many of our teacher leaders just yesterday, and we are looking again at how we can be that much more explicit so that no parent feels as though there is something happening at school that they are not aware of.”
(Portion removed)
Meanwhile, what lunacy it is to compare chess clubs with LGBTQ+ meetings for 4th and 5th graders.

Mike Arata If you go to Country Club Elementary, they have a Drama club (Web Link Here is part of the description of that club:

Thursday, December 16 @ 6:30pm will be a MANDATORY parent meeting for students wishing to participate in the Spring Musical.

MANDATORY parent meeting for this club!

Let's look at the "Marathon Club" at Country Club Elementary (Web Link Wohoo… Who is excited? Run Club at Country Club is starting on Sep 10th. More miles added is more charms added to the ever-famous Run-Club-Necklace! Permission forms can be found in the school office.

PERMISSION FORMS are required!

Does Dr. Malloy not know what the requirements are for other clubs in the schools he runs or is he just deliberately lying to parents to push this agenda?

Every school that has a PRISM club has information about it on its website, and parents can opt their students out of participating. Believing the narrow narrative spun by the Fox News broadcast is naïve.

Those screeching that this will only further drive parents to pull their kids out of school - what data to you have that this is occurring other than anecdotal gossip you hear?

CK, why do all other club require permission except this one? What is the school doing to 4th graders that they don't want parents to know? The reason for people leaving is that SRVUSD is not honest about what happens at their schools and the goals of education. It's clear the union runs each school site and they can do whatever they want and the superintendent is just a figurehead with no real power.

As a parent and a teacher in this district I am shocked to see such comments. This is a well informed, educated community or it least it use to be. Teachers are leaving in droves because
parents are believing nonsense like this. Indoctrinating kids? What on earth? If parents continue to believe these kooks with their sensationalism and distrusting that we are not working our tails off for their kids then our district will not be able to continue to provide the amazing education that we are know for. Good luck with that parents. We are already losing incredible teachers. Stop spreading lies and work WITH your school to offer the best education possible for your children. The schools and district know what they are doing.

SYKD, any teacher that leaves because they refuse to be honest with the community can make sure the door doesn't hit them on the way out. Tell me, where exactly would these teachers go that is more enlightened? WCCUSD perhaps? Why not SF?

Perhaps, now hear me out, SRVUSD is wrong and needs to adjust it's communication to be more honest and direct. Name any other business or institution that puts employee needs ahead of customers? "The customer is ALWAYS right" is a retail motto. Parents are the district's customers. You and SRVUSD saying that the customers are the ones who are wrong is backward and bigoted. SRVUSD (and SRVUSD employees) refusing to listen to parents and insisting that SRVUSD is always right in all circumstances is obtuse and infuriating.

You are an employee. You have every right to go work elsewhere. Good luck to you in whatever fantasy school district you're looking to go; the community will not miss the close-minded that refuse to listen to anyone but themselves.

SRVUSD’s enrollment projection for 2022-2023 as of 06-12-18 was 36,635. By 06-15-21, it was 29,289. That’s not just demographic change. Parents with sufficient means should continue fleeing the District, its critical race theorists, and its “LGBTQ+” indoctrinators (SRVUSD’s two “EQUITY” program propaganda tracks).

SRVUSD’s “LGBTQ+” webpage (Web Link says that “About half of our elementary schools have Prism Clubs.” But the only quickly accessible PRISM webpage I’ve discovered as of last week is Coyote Creek’s.

A notice there says “We look forward to your child joining the Prism Club!” But that requires busy parents to find the fine print and react to it.

And as I verified with SRVUSD’s “Equity” director on Dec. 8, there’s no informed-consent permission slip nor any advisory notice of specific student involvement provided to parents, directly contradicting SRVUSD’s communications director spin now.

The Feb. 27 Blaire Wyatt / Korby Saunders presentation wasn’t TV spin. If SRVUSD keeps parents fully informed (as claimed) then why do lunchtime meetings represent “kind of that sweet spot where… it kind of eliminates a little bit of that parent interaction.”

“H” is correct, going back at least 30 years, regarding SRVUSD dishonesty and teacher-union puppeteers.

The PRISM (LGBTQ+) Clubs for young children derive from “Gender-Sexuality Alliances” (GSAs) in SRVUSD’s middle schools and high schools. The high school versions got started during a 2001–2003 collaboration between SRVUSD and the “Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network” (GLSEN),” apparently under a GLSEN contract with the federal government.

GLSEN’s follow-up report: “For two years the GLSEN San Francisco-East Bay chapter worked behind the scenes to convince [SRVUSD] school administrators” to facilitate the formation of high school GSAs

Note customary “behind the scenes” secrecy.

SYKD I'm sorry to erupt but an activist teacher entered the 5th grade classrooms at my local elementary school in Alamo and showed a video advertising the PRISM club. That video contained words and ideas that my 5th grader is far too immature to even understand. I asked the principal about that and the response was that it didn't happen. How could my child just make this up? So I asked other parents in the class who's kids echoed he same ting - a different teacher came into the class and showed a video about boys being girls. There was parent outrage because this was done on classroom time without parent consent and the parents were lied to about it after. The Fox News video confirms exactly what happened in our class. Now the district and everyone saying it didn't (or couldn't) happen is outrageous. Just acknowledge the issue and help resolve it in a way that makes sense for everyone. I don't get the value in lying to people that have experienced this firsthand.

(portion removed) A number of us parents of children unfortunate enough to be enrolled in Country Club Elementary School have been battling the overly-politicized principal of that school for the past several years. Over the course of the last two years it has come to a point where there is a "Social Justice Warriors" Club,BLM is openly advocated for, police have been disparaged by the principal in emails to families, the annual Halloween Parade was almost cancelled because it was "offensive," and the PRISM club was rolled out in such a way that 95% of particular classes were attending the club without their parents' knowledge or consent - you know, EXACT thing outlined in the Tucker Carlson piece.

Each of the above issues have been brought to the district's attention by several families. The District is WELL aware these issues exist and the fact their spokeswoman felt as if she could issue a bold-face lie and discredit credible news based solely on the source (Tucker Carlson) is shameful and disgusting. Furthermore, the fact that teachers (above) deny this is going on is a further indictment on the district. Could it be this district is rotten to the core? Will it take a Loudon County movement to turn this around?

(removed), I would like to get in touch with you and pass along what these families in our neck of the woods have accomplished with respect to our battle with the principal and district, information we have gathered via official and unofficial channels, and work with you in an effort to save a School District that is worth saving. So long as our kids are being confronted with "indoctrination" our spirit and resolve will not be broken.

There is power in numbers. I can assure you that there are many like-minded individuals. We need to come together and push back.

At SYKD,

You stated the following: "Stop spreading lies and work WITH your school to offer the best education possible for your children. The schools and district know what they are doing.

First, what lies are you talking about? One of your own wanted to keep parents in the dark about their child's whereabouts during school. Who's keeping a secret from who? You think that's okay?

Second, the schools and district know what they're doing? Well, if that's the case, why the controversy? Simply put, one of their own, Blaire Wyatt, was caught on video suggesting parents be kept in the dark about their child's involvement with a particular club at school.

Words, and the meaning(s) behind them, have consequences - which is why this issue is being debated. However, if you think it's okay for a parent to be kept in the dark about their child's involvement in a school club, I believe common sense would dictate otherwise.

“Malcolm Hex,” not only does common sense dictate keeping parents informed about — and getting informed-consent permission for — their children’s involvement in school clubs; federal law itself requires it. See U.S. Code Section 3401, item #3. Web Link

That section says “parents have the primary responsibility for the education of their children, and States localities, and private institutions have the primary responsibility for supporting that parental role.”

Sexual-revolutionary activists and gender benders seek to reverse those rolls, here and elsewhere — and not surprisingly, have sought to conceal such activity.

Alex, thanks for your information about Country Club Elementary, and for reaching out. Here’s hoping more parents and other taxpayers begin stepping forward to expose secretive, subversive, and otherwise inappropriate behavior by SRVUSD personnel — i.e., add-ons to a shameful, scandalous record stretching back more than 30 years.

“H,” thanks to you and other insightful posters as well for your own revelations and analyses.

Readers should visit (a) SRVUSD’s “LGBTQ+” page (Web Link (b) the teacher list (not psychiatrist list) there for coordination of “Gender Support Plans”; (c) the online “Gender Spectrum” (activist, outside third party) forms for “Gender Support.”

As I said to the School Board and Superintendent last week: this amounts to UNLICENSED AMATEUR PSYCHOTHERAPY. Volunteer teachers without professional psychiatric credentials are apparently helping immature, insecure children make profound, dangerous changes in their lives.

70% or more of kids who think they’re "transgender" will grow out of that belief if it is NOT reinforced via social affirmation, and/or hormonal intervention, and/or surgical mutilation. That’s why parents should be informed of sexually dysphoric behaviors and associations of their children at school.

Our kids are grown, but as a parent I wouldn't put up with it. No way would I tolerate an "overly-politicized" principal. Or activist teachers with their "indoctrination." LGBTQ clubs in elementary school -- ABSURD. If I couldn't get anywhere with the school, my options would be private school, home schooling or moving out of California. I would probably choose private school, but I think I would have to be in that position. Good luck parents. We all want what's best for our children.

From age 6 or 7 to initiation of puberty, kids experience a natural LATENCY period, not thinking much (if at all) about sexual matters at these ages unless pushed by adult activists (or predators) to do so. Rapid cognitive learning and interest in sports are customary hallmarks; and the kids form primarily or exclusively same-sex friendships — boys with boys, girls with girls.

But activist teachers can manipulate insecure latency-cohort kids into mistaking same-sex friendships for homosexual inclinations — or to begin believing they were born in the wrong body

SRVUSD teacher volunteers are themselves now creating “Gender Support Plans” for minor children, using activist, third-party “Gender Spectrum” evaluation forms.

As I said above, that’s essentially unlicensed amateur psychotherapy.

As a former 20-year chemistry/math teacher and 25-year swim coach who worked with kids aged 5 to 22, I say it’s time to halt SRVUSD’s indoctrination of children — and sexual revolutionary / gender-bender manipulation of their minds, hearts, and souls. It’s time to get back to the teaching/learning of knowledge and skills.

Meanwhile, SRVUSD activists have instead continued pushing their perverse activism at younger and younger children. At Rancho Romero Elementary nearly 4 years ago, school staff (and possibly some PTA members) posted a transgender-promotion bulletin board on an outside wall. It came down shortly after public exposure.

“H’s” most recent narrative above reveals that an Alamo elementary school has allowed intrusion into a 5th grade classroom by a PRISM-Club promoter who showed “a video about boys being girls,” without parental notice or permission — and that the principal then lied about the situation when confronted.

That’s consistent with SRVUSD’s long history of usurping parental authority and concealing outrageous teacher behavior. The “Affirming LGBTQ+ Identities in Elementary School” presentation is yet another recent example.

BooHoo, This is a perfect example of why America has become such a weak country. Bunch of snowflakes whining about a club in elementary school that actually shows kids there is a real world out there. If you cant take a little diversity how are you going to win in this big old world. This is what the radical right has done to America, made us scared of our own shadow and afraid of multiple view points that have made this country great from its very beginning. A lot of the posters here are just angry old men that are embarrassed that they have been left behind and can't compete. They just want to complain about things they can't control. Spend your days listening to Tucker Carlson and you become weaker and weaker by the second. He is weakest kind of American and a failure to his country. Leave the SRVUSD alone, It is one of the top rated school districts in the country. Kids graduate from here and go onto top schools where they kick the tails academically of kids from private and parochial schools. Stop whining about a club in an elementary school, become a strong American and celebrate the strength and diversity that made America great and will continue you to make this country great. The posters on this site complaining are the problem not what they are scared about

Anonymous “BooHoo” tomdanville (portion removed)

Yes, the “real world” includes transgender recruitment, of the sort illustrated by Rancho Romero’s perverse bulletin-board display 4 years ago, more recently by “H’s” revelations above).

SRVUSD/CTA’s secretive movement of a determined “LGBTQ+” agenda into even the youngest grades has now been exposed as a systemic problem, here and elsewhere. Responsible, attentive parents and other taxpayers will resist it.

“LGBTQ+” activism, essentially a political movement, doesn’t belong in schools. Kids’ captured-audience introduction to some aspects of the “real world” should await their developmental readiness — in so many words, letting kids be kids.

One thing sticking with me from silly “teacher-education” courses I had to layer upon my high honors chemistry degree in order to teach the subject was a reminder of what I knew already: children don’t think like adults. Numerous SRVUSD personnel believe they do, because they are evidently adults who think like children.

As for alleged educational quality here: when Academic Performance Index (API) scores were reported, SRVUSD carefully concealed their similar-schools segment — i.e., comparisons of each school to 100 demographically similar schools across the state. On that basis, SRVUSD schools averaged only 5.6 out of 10.

Then, as now, California was near the bottom of state academic performances nationally. So SRVUSD wasn’t and isn’t even the best of the worst. As in 1983, we remain a “Nation [and state] At Risk.”

SRVUSD is fortunate to have so many Asian-American students and families. At 37% of District population, they provide 80% of SRVUSD’s National Merit semifinalists. San Ramon Valley High School, site of separate recent scandals, apparently had none.

Mike, I am very confused about your comments. I had three kids graduate SRVUSD all thrived in colleges ( pretty prestigious one's I might add) and all seem to be well adjusted normal kids. I also know from college counselors that SRVUSD is thought of very highly by college admissions departments so if we are at the bottom schools in the IVY's and places like Stanford, Caltech and others must be really lowering their standards to let them in. Also not that it matters I am not an "Asian American" I am an American (of European descent if you must know) 2 of my 3 kids were National Merit Scholars (as was I) I am going to assume that with your last name you are either Japanese or Italian descent. If you are Italian are you upset that "Italian Americans" don't do well as others and if you are "Japanese American" are you just crowing about your supposed intellectual superiority? I don't think it matters what your ethnicity is SRVUSD is doing a pretty good job at teaching our kids.

As for all those "secret clubs" that you and others are whining about I must have missed those during my 16 years of sending kids through the school district. My kids were too busy with drama, athletics and all other activities kids do. And yes they met kids and had many friends who were LGBTQ+ during those years. And you know what the one thing they appreciated about SRVUSD is that they made sure kids understood that you look at the character of the person and your sexual orientation or race or religion or politics was immaterial to that.
