Law enforcement will take center stage at this month’s San Ramon Mayor’s Breakfast on Friday, where Mayor Bill Clarkson will meet with residents to eat pancakes, drink coffee and discuss the pressing issues facing the city.

The Mayor’s Breakfast is an ongoing series series typically held on the last Friday of each month, giving residents the opportunity to speak with their city’s top elected official, along with a special guest, in a relaxed environment. This month, Clarkson will engage with residents alongside two special guests, San Ramon police officer Abe Medina and his K-9 partner Senna.

“If you’ve never met one of our four-legged officers, this will be your chance! Our K-9 officers, along with their partners, are one of the many ways that San Ramon continues to be recognized as one of the safest cities in the state,” Clarkson said in an email to residents.

According to the SRPD webpage, Medina and Senna became partners in May 2013. A female Belgian Malinois, Senna was born in the Netherlands and receives her commands in Dutch, and prior to joining the force Senna competed as a certified sporting dog.

The discussion on law and safety in the city is a timely one, as earlier this month San Ramon was recognized as the sixth safest city in all of California and the second safest in the Bay Area, in a study conducted by a national security company.

Past speakers that have attended the Mayor’s Breakfast include State Sen. Steve Glazer, former assemblywoman Catharine Baker, SRVFPD Chief Paige Meyer and City Councilman Phil O’Loane.

The breakfast is free to attend and does not require a reservation. This week’s meeting will take place Friday (March 29) from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the usual spot, Clementine’s Restaurant, 18070 San Ramon Valley Blvd. Clarkson encourages residents to purchase food, although it is not mandatory in order to join in on the conversation.
