The town of Danville wants its residents to come out and celebrate Earth Day in style.

Danville is throwing its eighth annual Earth Day celebration this Saturday, featuring educational green events for the whole family.

Residents will get to honor the planet and all it has given them by participating in the activities the town has scheduled including:

* Return of the fan-favorite Peanuts Naturally exhibit from the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa. The exhibit features fun eco-friendly craft and activity stations, including solar racing cars, launching rockets and live wiggly worms.

* A creek walk led by the Contra Costa Resource Conservation District’s Friends of the San Ramon Creek.

* The East Bay Regional Park District’s new mobile center will make an appearance to provide participants with “interactive and educational exhibits.”

* The town’s pop-up play program, arts & rec on the go will have family friendly activities for kids aged 5-14.

* Residents will also get to learn about their town’s new green energy program at the Marin Clean Energy booth.

* Free prizes and more.

The Danville Earth Day celebration will be held on the Town Green in front of the Danville Library, 400 Front St. this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free to all.

Anyone who gets inspired to be “green” by the celebration can visit Danville’s “living green” page, to learn about how the town is making itself environmentally friendly, or participate in one of several upcoming green volunteer opportunities such as April 28 Lend a Hand Day and UnWaste Event.
