Authorities have identified a 23-year-old man who went on an afternoon crime spree around Walnut Creek on Wednesday, breaking into a garage and threatening someone with a hammer, carjacking someone else, then finally stealing a landscaper’s van before being arrested.

Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesperson Jimmy Lee said deputies arrested Sean White of Pittsburg without incident Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded at about 1:25 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a burglary in progress on Birch Drive in unincorporated Walnut Creek.
The victim reported a man ran into their garage, brandished a hammer, and demanded the occupant’s vehicle’s keys. The suspect fled after the victim resisted.
White then allegedly ran to a nearby home but fled after not being able to enter.
Lee said White then ran to a parking lot in the 1400 block of Treat Boulevard and carjacked a person sitting in their car.
White then allegedly drove to West Holly Street in Walnut Creek where he stole another vehicle identified as a landscaper’s van, according to Walnut Creek police.
With the assistance of the East Bay Regional Park Police District, Danville police and Walnut Creek police, deputies found White walking on the trail near West Hookston Road and Contra Costa Boulevard, Lee said.
White was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of multiple offenses, including carjacking and burglary.
