Mayor Robert Storer is set to read a proclamation recognizing Aug. 31 as a day to draw awareness to the dangers of drug overdose and bring the topic of substance addiction and abuse — often kept under wraps by those suffering with addiction — into the public eye.

“The Town of Danville resolves to play our part in reducing the toll of overdose in our community, which continues to claim the lives of community members every year and forever affects those who loved and cared about them,” the proclamation set for Tuesday’s meeting reads.

The Danville Town Council is set to meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 15).
