The San Ramon City Council has announced details about the proposed contract for newly selected City Manager Steven Spedowfski following a closed-session discussion this week, and set a date for public hearing and a vote on the item.

Councilmembers discussed the contract in private at the end of their most recent regular meeting on Tuesday (July 25), with Mayor Dave Hudson announcing some details about the contract and plans for further conversation during a report out on the approximately 40 minutes in closed session that evening.

The proposed contract includes a salary of $297,900 annually as well as $500 of management incentive pay monthly that is provided to all managerial employees of the city, and an annual contribution of $27,204 to a deferred compensation plan through the city, with a commencement date of June 16.

The information on the proposed contract was provided verbally by Hudson, with the full version of the proposed contract yet to be made publicly available. The five-member council voted unanimously to bring the proposed employment contract to the table for public review and discussion at their next regular meeting on Aug. 8.

Spedowfski, a longtime San Ramon city staffer and former Livermore city councilmember, has served as interim city manager since January, following Joe Gorton’s retirement.
