A lawsuit was filed Tuesday on behalf of the family of a 10-year-old boy who was injured when he went down a water slide operated by the city of Dublin in May.

Dublin city officials issued a statement Monday saying that they and their legal representatives tried to reach an amicable settlement with the boy’s family but the family’s attorney has refused to provide information that would allow the city to do that.

City officials said they continue to express their sympathy and concern for the boy.

The boy was going down the three-story high Emerald Plunge slide at The Wave Waterpark, which had just opened that same day, around noon on May 27 when he was ejected from the slide.

Lifeguards tended to the boy and park staff closed the slide and one other for safety reasons.

The boy was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

City officials said their staff took the appropriate action the day the boy was ejected by closing the slide, which remains closed until state safety officials say it’s okay to reopen.

The Emerald Plunge slide was custom-built for the city’s park. City officials said the slides’ manufacturer and California safety regulators had tested both slides before the park opened.

  1. This family and their attorney are nothing more than a bunch of opportunistic unethical losers not unlike ghetto families who win the ghetto lottery when they sue police departments for injuring or killing their thug children. Instead of behaving like this they should be thanking god that their son escaped with only minor injuries not requiring any in patient medical care. How they justify trying to rip off the citizens of Dublin to the tune of $2.5mm is beyond ridiculous.

  2. The article doesn’t state what his injuries are/were. Head injuries can not be a problem at first, but can be problematic months later. I remember he miraculously was able to get up and walk and it was reported at the time, I believe, that he did not suffer any serious injury. So, are they suing for negligence or what? It says they’re suing for his injuries though, so what injuries? The article could use more info please.

  3. Those types of lawsuits under mind the sad but very real situations of a person being injured by an individual or business that is underinsured. Many personal injury attorneys tell their clients “ you have a great case but too bad you weren’t injured by a FedEx truck “. Personal injury attorneys love to go after those with deep pockets… it’s easy money.
