Danville Mayor Karen Stepper is set to lead a public discussion on the future of Danville’s arts, parks and recreation programs during a mayor’s town hall meeting Saturday morning.

The event will feature a presentation on the town’s arts, parks and recreation strategic plan followed by a panel discussion with members of Danville’s Parks and Leisure Services and Arts commissions.

“If you can imagine a new playground feature for older kids or adults, an art class for those of us with all thumbs or a seniors’ dog-training class, come share your ideas at the mayor’s town hall,” Stepper said in a statement. “We invite the community to learn more about the future of Danville’s parks and give their feedback.”

During the town hall meeting, Danville’s recreation, arts and community services manager, Henry Perezalonso, will talk about the strategic plan and how it will affect the town in the years ahead.

He will also offer a preview of national trends in parks and recreation and share initial feedback received from hundreds of community members thus far during the strategic planning process.

Stepper will then moderate a question-and-answer session between the audience and panelists Kevin Donovan (chair, Parks and Leisure Services Commission), Beverly Kumar (chair, Arts Commission) and Sarah Guller, (youth representative, Parks and Leisure Services Commission).

The town hall meeting is set to run from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Building, 400 Hartz Ave. in downtown Danville. For more information, contact assistant to the town manager Nat Rojanasathira at 314-3328 or nrojanasathira@danville.ca.gov.
