Shoo-in new DUSD trustee bows out

Dublin finance professional and parent Jeff Clark, who was poised to be the next Area 3 trustee for the school board, recently informed the district that he is bowing out and will not take the seat he was set to be appointed to without an election.

The reason for Clark’s withdrawal was not immediately clear. The Dublin Unified School District confirmed the news but did not release further details. Attempts to contact Clark were unanswered as of press time.

“There is currently no one attempting to fill that seat,” DUSD director of communication Chip Dehnert told the Weekly. “As far as the next steps go, there are two options: an appointment or a special election. An appointment seems like the most likely route, but that is up to the board.” The board’s next regular meetings are Nov. 12 and Dec. 3, agendas for which are pending.

Clark was the only candidate to file during the nomination window for the DUSD Area 3 seat, which was opening up after Trustee William Kuo announced he would not seek reelection. With only Clark to qualify, the Area 3 position is not on the ballot and he would have been scheduled to start his term in December.
