Donald George, 81, shot and killed his 77-year-old wife, Betty George, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center on July 6 and then shot and killed himself. The self-inflicted gunshot wound killed Donald George instantly. Walnut Creek police were called to the third floor of the hospital and found both bodies.

Betty George did not die immediately. She was treated for the gunshot wound and died at 5:30 a.m. the next morning, according to reports.

Police later discovered that Betty George had been transferred recently to Kaiser from Sunrise Assisted Living in Danville, where both she and her husband been living for the past six months. Betty George was in poor health and suffered from several major illnesses, police said.

Police served a search warrant at the George’s home in Danville. A suicide note was found indicating Donald George’s intention to kill his wife and himself. No one else was injured, and police have determined that Donald George acted alone.
