Robert ‘Bob’ L. DaSilva Jr.

Robert “Bob” L. DaSilva Jr., 46, a former resident of Danville, died Sept. 22 with his family at his side. He was born Jan. 29, 1960, in San Lorenzo, the son of Robert DaSilva Sr. and Diane DaSilva, who preceded him in death.

He is remembered as kind, smart, adventurous, a risk-taker, generous, thoughtful, witty, funny and compassionate.

He is survived by his wife Dee DaSilva; two daughters Jamie and Kristina, both of Danville; sister and brother-in-law Suzie and Mike Fiedor; niece Lisa Cunningham of Livermore; aunts Carrie Lesley of Stockton and Loretta Silva of Bullhead City, Ariz.; father- and mother-in-law, Jerry and Shirley Gillum of Kirksville, Mo.; sister-in-law, Vicky Halstead of LaPlata, Mo.; and extended family in Stockton and Kirksville.

A memorial in celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, at the DaSilva residence; telephone 736-6212.

Maxwell Jay Epstein

Alamo resident Maxwell Jay Epstein, passed away Sept. 28 at the age of 77.

He was born March 14, 1929, in Chicago and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1951. He then entered the U.S. Air Force and became a fighter pilot in the Korean War from 1952 to 1957. He moved to Oakland in 1959 and to Alamo in 1976.

He was the founder of American Compensation Service, an insurance and financial services firm, and thoroughly enjoyed working, until August when he could no longer physically come into the office. He also enjoyed flying, salmon fishing, storytelling, working, conversation, playing cards and attending the 52 Baker Fighter pilot reunions, as well as his family.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Skippy (Arlene); daughter Rickie (Lawrence Ellison) Epstein; son Michael (Simone) Epstein; and daughter Sharon Patty; grandchildren Daniel and Michael Patty, and Savannah and Gabrielle Epstein; brother Joseph (Shirley) Belmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held Oct. 3 at the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living, and donations can be made to Reutlinger.
