Itís the dog days of summer, but the Danville Weeklyís Pets on Parade contest entries featured dogs, cats, rats and a host of critters.
Readers were asked to submit their pet photos along with a clever caption. Entries were judged by the Danville Weekly staff based on quality of photo, and creativity and appropriateness of the accompanying caption.
Marion Kohte of Danville was awarded first place for a photo of her dog Clouseau with his stuffed snowman and Santa, pining away for Christmas. Marion will receive a gift basket provided by Pyrenees Pets, 3440 Camino Tassajara, in Blackhawk.
Sharon Mosbaugh of Danville received second-place honors for a photo of Sally, a golden retriever, and Sug, a Labrador, getting ready to celebrate a birthday. Sally and Sug are service dogs at Montair Elementary in Danville. Sharon will receive a $25 gift certificate.
Third-place went to Fara Rosenzweig for her photo of Lady donning workout gear. Fara will receive a $10 gift certificate.
