One dead in crash on Ygnacio Valley Road early Sunday

A person died early Sunday in Walnut Creek after his vehicle struck a tree downtown on Ygnacio Valley Road.

Police responded at 2:14 a.m. to a solo vehicle collision on Ygnacio Valley Road, near N. Broadway.

Officers found the vehicle on fire and resting on a tree in the parking lot of 675 Ygnacio Valley Road. Firefighters extinguished the fire, but the driver died at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle.

Police aren’t releasing the name of the driver yet while attempting to notify his family.
