Notices went out to all photography teachers about the Museum of the San Ramon Valley’s student show. And each one gave an immediate positive response, recalled Barbara Farmer, district coordinator for visual arts.
“There is a theme we’re following – images from the Valley,” Farmer said.
Students have been combing the San Ramon Valley shooting images, both digitally and to be developed in the dark room. Sixty photographers are taking part, 15 from each of the four comprehensive high schools.
The student photo exhibit opens Wednesday, following adult photographers in “Exposing Danville Inside Out: Today and Yesterday.”
“We did a show last spring at the museum that was more drawing and painting,” recalled Farmer. “This is like Part 2.”
The museum will host a reception for the student photos from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 25. The student photography exhibit runs through March 31.
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is located on Railroad Avenue at Prospect in the old train depot in Danville. Hours are 1-4 p.m. Tuesday to Friday; 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Admission fees are adults $3; children $1; family $5; students with ID $2. Students participating in the school Passport Program are admitted free with one adult. Family memberships are available for $35 per year.
