Start your celebration of the holidays with the opening of Christmas Memories at the Museum of the San Ramon Valley from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27, following the Danville Tree Lighting. This delightful exhibit runs through Jan. 2.

Christmas Memories is an annual tradition at the Museum and captures Christmas’ past with a display of three trees from earlier eras – 1890, 1930 and 1950. Nestled under the trees are toys and keepsakes from these generations.

This year, in honor of Barbie’s 50th birthday, Ken and Barbie dolls will be on display. Activities for children include a Treasure Hunt for both cars and trains and various Barbies. Santa will be visiting the Museum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on two Saturdays: Dec. 12 and 19.

Many of the nostalgic items on display are on loan from local valley residents and include interactive mechanical toys, international and antique dolls, Pooh Corner characters, dollhouses, Matchbox cars, antique wind-up toys, a carousel and ferris wheel, model trains, Santa, his flying reindeer and his antique sleigh. There will also be gingerbread houses replicating historic buildings from throughout the San Ramon Valley.

Make Christmas Memories one of your family’s annual traditions. The Museum of the San Ramon Valley (in the restored Danville Train Depot) is located at 205 Railroad Ave., Danville. Hours are 1-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Admission is only $3 for guests, free for Museum members.

The Museum Store offers unique gifts. Call 837-3750 or go to www.museumsrv.org for additional information.
