Commuters through the San Ramon Valley will see a daytime freeway ramp closure continue into the summertime as construction crews work on lane widening and wall replacement along Interstate 680.

The southbound on-ramp to I-680 at Stone Valley Road in Alamo, which has seen closures for much of this year, will be shut off to traffic from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays through August, according to Caltrans.

“These closures are necessary to support ongoing fiber optic installation, ramp metering system improvements, and widening of the Stone Valley Road on-ramp,” the agency said in a press release. “Work includes reconstruction of the retaining wall and soundwall as part of continued infrastructure improvements along the I-680 corridor in Contra Costa County.”

All work is weather-permitting on any given day. The overall project is estimated to last into winter 2028, according to Caltrans.

During the closure times, motorists will be detoured up Danville Boulevard to the Livorna Road on-ramp to southbound I-680.
