Tango and Jazz at City Center

Ahead of its grand opening set for later in the month, the much-anticipated Turkish restaurant and jazz club Meyhouse is set to provide the first musical offerings of its foray into the Tri-Valley in the coming days.

Meyhouse Jazz is hosting two-time Grammy winner Mads Tolling at City Center Bishop Ranch on Friday and Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. according to its website and a sign posted outside of its yet-to-open new outpost this week.

The expansion to San Ramon will be Meyhouse’s third location overall and the first in the East Bay, coming on the heels of its jazz club openings in Palo Alto in 2023 and in Sunnyvale in 2024.

Alamo and Danville road closures

Officials issued advisories this week for drivers in both Alamo and Danville to be prepared for intermittent road closures on major throughways in the week ahead for tree work in Alamo and storm drain maintenance in Danville.

Workers for the Contra Costa County Public Works Department are set to remove four trees on Stone Valley Road near the Smith Road intersection in order to “enhance public safety”, according to an announcement from the department Tuesday.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes, and should prepare for traffic control measures and temporary lane closures in the area, and delays of up to 15 minutes, during anticipated work hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday (April 6) through next Friday (April 10).

Meanwhile in Danville, a storm drain maintenance project is set for the same week along San Ramon Valley Boulevard between Hartz Way and Town and Country Drive, with intermittent lane closures possible during work hours between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to a traffic advisory issued by the town Monday.

Town officials also warned of potential delays due to an ongoing traffic signal modernization project through June 15 impacting intersections between Camino Ramon and Camino Tassajara on Sycamore Valley Road, between Camino Tassajara and Tassajara Ranch Drive on Crow Canyon Road, and at El Cerro Boulevard and La Gonda Way. Lane closures are set to be limited to between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at busy intersections.

Eggstravaganza

The town of Danville is preparing for Easter celebrations this weekend and inviting the community to “hop into spring” at its annual Eggsstravaganza celebration that is set to see festivities throughout the downtown neighborhood.

The main attraction is set to consist of Easter egg hunts, photo opportunities with the Spring Bunny, face painting, and other family friendly events at the Community Center and Town Green, with other activities and offerings throughout downtown businesses during the day.

Awards for Iron Horse Trail overcrossing

The city of San Ramon is celebrating multiple recognitions for its new Iron Horse Trail overcrossing connecting pedestrians and cyclists across Bollinger Canyon Road since its grand opening last year after a years-long planning, design, and construction process.

The project garnered this year’s Outstanding Local Streets and Road Project award from the California State Association of Counties, League of California Cities, and County Engineers Association of California on Feb. 26, followed by two Project of the Year awards from the American Public Works Association on March 5.

The Northern California APWA Project of the Year award means that it will go on to be considered in the national APWA competition in Texas in the late summer.
