March is Women’s History Month. Toward that end, I’ve festooned my bike o’ the month with names of inspirational women in such fields as Sciences (Rachel Carson, Marie Curie, Grace Hopper) and Politics (Ann Richards, Jackie Speier, Gloria Steinem). But I’ve reserved the most space for women in the arts: Marin Alsop, Molly Ivins, Annie Leibovitz , Jessica Mitford, Georgia O’Keeffe, Clara Schumann, Mary Shelley, Hildegaard von Bingen.

Could have come up with dozens more, but space was limited.

  1. Nearly a decade ago, I was a member of Danville's Pioneer Gallery, some of whose members attempted to censor artists' work based on said members' narrow-minded views. Of course, there was this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Degenerate_art. This reaction to Schutz's work, "… recommendation that the painting be destroyed and not entered into any market or museum," does provide food for thought. In CA, it's illegal to destroy artworks: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Art_Preservation_Act.

  2. It's Women's History month, and boy, has society set back women and their ability to raise children, the future of our country. Children are often sent back to live with convicted child molesters, such as is evidenced in the case of Allison V. Contra Costa County et al, 2014, where Contra Costa County Court placed Plaintiff under supervised visitation for reporting sexual molestation of her daughters:

  3. It is the post where everyone should give the positive feedback towards the devotion of women. In the month of March they had created the history that will be remembered. Most of the people are not aware of this history so this post will also be knowledgeable for them. As you have explained briefly about the many honorable women & their work & devotion we appreciate their efforts. Thanks for sharing this post.
