Hanukkah at City Center
Chabad of Danville and San Ramon kicked off the first day of Chanukah last weekend with its 11th annual celebration and glow experience at City Center Bishop Ranch.
The event on Dec. 14 included a giant menorah lighting, gelt drop, face painting, a balloon wall, cookie decorating and a photo booth, as well as seasonal treats including latkes and hot drinks for the chilly evening last Saturday.
Deko DIY opening
Northern San Ramon is set to have a new attraction starting this weekend amid losses of two major mainstays in the neighborhood with the pending closure of the Brass Door and the indefinite closure of the Golden Skate.
Deko DIY Studio is expanding from Fremont to San Ramon with a grand opening set for this weekend.
“Decoden is a fun and creative decorating style that lets you design your own unique items using ‘whipped cream’ clay, colorful charms, rhinestones, pearls, and more,” owner and founder Phuong Huynh said. “Originally popular in Japan and Korea, Decoden turns everyday objects into personalized art pieces.”
The studio will offer the opportunity to adorn everyday items such as phone cases, mirrors, picture frames, and light switches with personalized designs – and an artistic outlet with no experience necessary.
“It’s a relaxing, hands-on activity perfect for all ages, birthdays, girls’ day out, date nights, mommy daughter outings, and family fun,” Huynh said.
The studio will be open for business at 2819 Crow Canyon starting Saturday (Dec. 20). More information is available here.

Take Us Along display
The Pleasanton Weekly’s popular Take Us Along feature, which encourages readers to pose with their newspaper on vacation, is being highlighted in a new display at the Museum on Main as part of its current exhibition, “Greetings from Everywhere”
The exhibit is set to run through Jan. 3 in downtown Pleasanton. The Weekly donated the bulk of its Take Us Along physical archive to the museum in recent years before an office consolidation.
