Fans will have the opportunities for autographs, conversations, games and other activities with current team members – such as outfielder Jung Hoo Lee and Pitcher Landon Roupp –  coaches, broadcasters, new manager Tony Vitello, and a special appearance by mascot Lou Seal.

The free, family friendly event is set for Saturday (Jan. 24) from noon to 3 p.m. More information and registration is available here

Recreation expo

The Town of Danville’s Recreation Expo and Open House is returning this year with a glimpse into a lineup of town-sponsored activities and adventures.

The theme of this year’s event mirrors the town’s new book bench design inspired by “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” with attendees encouraged to “eat their way” through the event starting at the Danville Community Center and making their way through other downtown stops, including the town library for story time and the Village Theatre for a presentation from the Bug Lady.

The event is scheduled for Feb. 7 from 10 a.m to 1 p.m.

EBRPD grant program

The East Bay Regional Parks District is accepting applications for its pilot community engagement grant program through next week.

“Community-based organizations are essential partners in helping us reach people who have historically been excluded from park access and civic processes,” said José González, Equity Officer at the East Bay Regional Park District. “This pilot program is about building trust, expanding opportunity, and ensuring that all communities have meaningful ways to connect with our parks and participate in decisions that shape their future.”

The program will award grants of up to $20,000 to community organizations who propose programs that increase accessibility and diversity in the outdoors.

Proposed programs are required to fall into at least one of the three categories: Explore the Outdoors, Nature in the Neighborhood, and Civic Engagement.

Applications are open through Jan. 29. More information is available here.

Top employer award for Patelco

Dublin-based Patelco Credit Union is a Best-in-Class employer for 2025 according to the industry and analysis firm Gallagher, who bestows that title based on workplaces’ support for employee health, finances, and career growth while keeping costs stable.

“We are deeply honored to receive this recognition of our commitment as an organization to foster an environment where every employee can thrive,” Patelco’s Chief People Officer Susan Makris said in a press release Thursday.

“When our employees are supported, engaged, knowledgeable and empowered, they in turn provide the best service to our members, helping them to secure and grow their financial wellbeing,” she continued.

Patelco rose to the top of data from more than 4,000 companies across 23 different industries that was analyzed by Gallagher in its Benefits Strategy and Benchmarking survey.

The Best in Class recognition is a signal that the local credit union places “emphasis on holistic wellbeing” of its employees according to Thursday’s press release, by “going beyond traditional benefits.”
