A 40-year-old Union City woman was taken into custody Sunday night after police allege she shot a 17-year-old boy in San Ramon earlier that evening.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene on Talavera Drive at approximately 6:18 p.m. Sunday evening, where they found the teen suffering from a single gunshot wound in the upper shoulder and transported him to the hospital, according to the San Ramon Police Department.
The juvenile victim was released following treatment, according to a press release from SRPD on Monday.
Later Sunday evening, police arrested the suspect, identified as Xiaojie Zhang, on a Ramey warrant for attempted homicide.
“While we are not revealing the relationship between the victim and the suspect, we can confirm that the two were known to each other,” SRPD officials said in Monday’s press release.
After her arrest at 11:28 p.m. Sunday evening, police discovered two firearms at Zhang’s Union City home. While the investigation remained ongoing as of Monday afternoon, police said there was no further threat to the community.
Zhang continued to be in jail custody on $1 million bail as of Monday afternoon.
