The Danville Town Council is set to hold a required public hearing at its next regular meeting Tuesday on a proposed amendment to a local ordinance that would allow for the town’s newly promoted finance director to continue serving as the treasurer amid the change in title.
As it’s written, the town’s investment policy states that the finance manager is also designated as the town’s treasurer. But with that position now vacant following the promotion of finance director Lani Ha, an amendment would be required to solidify her position as treasurer.
“The proposed ordinance would amend Section 2-3.1 to remove any future ambiguity about who may serve as Treasurer by listing both Finance Director or Administrative Services Director,” city attorney Robert Ewing wrote in a staff report prepared for the upcoming meeting. “This will allow the Town to fill the job with the person in charge of the Finance Division without having to worry about job titles or further amending the ordinance.”
The Danville Town Council is set to meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 3). The agenda is available here.
