The Danville Town Council is set to hear a report from the town’s development services director on the highlights and current projects under her department, which consists of the building, planning, transportation and engineering divisions.
The report consists of highlights from all four of those divisions over the past year, as well as their ongoing and future projects in the current year, including the current roadwork on San Ramon Valley Boulevard that is set to be completed this month, the ongoing Downtown Catalyst Master Plan, and the fiber optic cable interconnect project.
One additional highlight is the long-anticipated Diablo Vista Playground Renovation project, which was set to be under construction last year but was delayed after the council voted to reject both bids submitted in the RFP process. Following a revised RFP window that allowed for the playground renovation and the development of a new multi-sport park including skating facilities to be bid for separately, construction is now set to be underway next month.
Other projects under the town’s Development Services Division are currently in the design phase, including a traffic signal modernization project, the Hill Meadow Storm Drain Pipe Repair project, the Pack Trail/Park Haven Drive Landslide Repair project, the Sycamore Valley Road project, and the current year’s pavement management project.
It’s been a busy year for all four divisions, according to the report set to be presented by Development Services Director Diane Friedman, with the Building Division processing and reviewing 1,862 building applications and conducting 1,130 building plan reviews while seeing an average of 56 walk-in customers per week. The Planning Division has conducted a total of 363 development plan reviews and 11 full development plans yielding 277 permitted housing units and 71 permitted housing units, with 60 housing units and 37 accessory dwelling units completed.
The Engineering Division – which conducted 287 engineering plan reviews over the past year – is set to see completion this month of the second phase of its Storm Drainage Master Plan. Meanwhile, it’s looking to complete the design phase for the Arts District Maker Space and the Town Green and Arts District.
The Transportation Division has reviewed and closed 14 projects under the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program, and is currently managing five more open projects under the program. Other work in that division includes an update to the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program, bicycle infrastructure improvements including a striping plan, signage, and bike box infrastructure on San Ramon Valley Boulevard, and the Diablo Road Trail Project that is set to be under construction starting late summer.
The Danvile Town Council is set to meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday (April 15). The agenda is available here.
