The owners and staff of the ice cream shop Lottie’s are recovering this week after their Danville location was burglarized overnight Sunday.

The shop announced the burglary Monday, in which a cash register, deposits, and equipment were stolen, with the front door window broken open and the shop vandalized.

“We’re a small, family-run business, and this hurts, not just financially but because this is the place where we’ve built so many relationships with all of you over the years,” Lottie’s owners said in a Facebook post.

The business reopened Monday afternoon.

“If you feel moved to support us right now, the biggest help is simply coming by when we reopen, shopping with us, spreading the word, or even just sending a kind message,” Lottie’s owners said. “Your loyalty and encouragement mean more than you know. Thank you for being the kind of community that looks out for each other.”

The Danville Police Department was continuing to investigate the incident as of Tuesday evening. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Dan Lynch at dlynch@danville.ca.gov.
