The San Ramon Valley Unified School District’s Board of Education is poised to finalize cuts to classified staff positions at their next regular meeting this week, following an initial approval of the move last month.
Since the board’s approval of the cuts to classified as well as certificated positions on March 5, a total of 24 employees have been notified that their current positions are set to be cut, with 39 vacant positions set to be closed as well.
The positions on the chopping block consist of a number of instructional assistants, paraeducators, noon duty supervisors, and library technicians, as well as a duplicating and publications tech positions and an unfilled budget analyst position.
If finalized, the move is estimated to reduce categorical and external fund expenditures on classified staff by $804,500, as well as $545,000 in annual costs.
Affected employees are set to receive a final notice of the board’s decision by May 15, and would maintain reemployment rights that make them eligible for comparable positions should the district have openings.
The board is set to meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (April 16). The agenda is available here.
