Three schools in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District are set to be under new leadership in the coming months following a special school board meeting last week.

The board of education met in closed session Friday to discuss principal appointments at Stone Valley Middle School, and Quail Run and Neil Armstrong elementary schools, and reported its unanimous decisions on all three appointments that will commence July 1.

Andi Calloway, currently an assistant principal at Diablo Vista Middle School, was announced as incoming principal of Quail Run, with Neil Armstrong Elementary’s assistant principal Karen Johnson announced as its new principal. Jami Greer, currently an assistant principal at Miramonte High School, is set to lead Stone Valley Middle School.

All three appointments come following a lengthy public comment session at last month’s regular board meeting, in which numerous parents and employees at Quail Run expressed frustrations with the impacts of budget cuts that went into effect this year and reduced administrative resources at the school and in the district at large.

While the outcome of last week’s meeting doesn’t quell all of the concerns raised last month, including calls for restoration of an assistant principal position at Quail Run, it does reduce some uncertainty about the future for all three schools.

SRVUSD Superintendent CJ Cammack called Calloway “an experienced educator and leader who believes deeply in the power of a supportive school community,” in an announcement to the community following last week’s meeting, with a holistic approach toward supporting students.

“Throughout her career, which includes leadership roles in Pleasanton Unified and seven years as a counselor at Gale Ranch Middle School, Ms. Calloway has prioritized the ‘whole child,’ focusing on both academic excellence and social-emotional growth,” Cammack wrote.

In an announcement to the Neil Armstrong Elementary community, Cammack pointed to Johnson’s existing commitment to the school as assistant principal and called her an “excellent fit” for the new role.

“During her time at Neil Armstrong, she has made a significant impact on school culture and climate,” Cammack wrote. “Most notably, she has been instrumental in strengthening support for students’ emotional well-being and has played a key role in the successful implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).”

Greer will be entering SRVUSD with a “wealth of experience” from her prior teaching roles at neighboring districts such as Acalanes and San Mateo Union in addition to time at her current administrative post at Miramonte High School, Cammack said.

“As a leader, Ms. Greer believes in the power of strong family partnerships,” Cammack wrote in an announcement to Stone Valley. “She is known for listening actively and working tirelessly to ensure every student receives the support they need to succeed.”
