Danville’s Renee Morgan is seeking to continue her tenure on the town council for a fourth term, announcing a campaign for reelection this week ahead of the expiration of her current term at the end of the year.
In the campaign announcement issued Tuesday, Morgan pointed to her accomplishments in the seat to date, including two year-long terms as mayor in 2016 and 2021, contributions to the town’s financial health, partnerships with local organizations, and emphasis on Danville’s reputation for public safety.
“Having a seat at the table benefits all residents,” Morgan wrote in Tuesday’s announcement. “I continue to conduct legislative advocacy at state, regional and federal levels, in the face of the state and federal governments continuing efforts to narrow the scope of local authority vested in cities.”
With the campaign slogan “Experience matters,” Morgan also pointed to her eight years of service with the town prior to the start of her tenure on the council, having been a member of the town’s planning, historic design review, and heritage resource commissions.
“During this time I implemented stronger open space guidelines, tightened historic preservation guidelines and updated 2 General Plans,” Morgan wrote.
Morgan said that she would continue to be focused on the “best outcome for Danville” if elected for an additional term in November, and seek to continue maintaining its reputation for an “outstanding quality of life.”
“I will continue to maintain our history and small town atmosphere and open space that is paramount,” Morgan wrote. “All while providing excellent services to our residents with a balanced budget and healthy reserves and being fiscally responsible. Statistics have proven our force field for the safest city for our residents and property – Danville is the Safest City in the State of California, best place to live and retire!”
A 30-plus-year Danville resident, Morgan was first elected to the town council in 2012, winning a bid for her second term in 2016, then for her current third term in 2020. In the most recent election, she was selected for one of the three council seats up for grabs along with incumbents Newell Arnerich and David Fong, both of whom are also in terms expiring this year.
