A 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck Contra Costa County on Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor hit at 5:53 a.m. about 2.8 miles southeast of San Ramon, or 3.4 miles north of Dublin in Alameda County.

According to the USGS, the quake had a depth of 8 kilometers or nearly 5 miles and occurred along the Calaveras Fault.

Tuesday’s event follows a series of small quakes that rattled the area just last week.
