Treasures of the Museum
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is displaying “Treasures of the Museum,” with artifacts that the museum has never or rarely previously exhibited. They include collections of clothing, Indian tools, early farm implements, prehistoric fossils and other items from the valley’s early history. The exhibit runs through June18. Crisis Hotline
The Contra Costa Crisis Center in Walnut Creek will begin a free class to train new volunteer hotline counselors on June 6. Volunteers, who must be 21, work one four-hour shift each week, providing emotional support to callers who are abused, depressed, grieving, suicidal, homeless or mentally ill. Search and Rescue
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team needs volunteer members to respond to missing person incidents, disasters and other critical incidents. Team members are on call 24/7 year round. The program provides required training including wilderness traveling, first aid, map and compass, tracking disaster response and search skills, and may additionally include special training for canine, equestrian, technical, mountain bike or other rescue skills. Trails Maintenance
East Bay Trail Dogs is an all-volunteer group that has built, repaired and helped maintain single-track trails in the East Bay Regional Park District, the Mt.
