Embarcadero Media Foundation, thank you
On behalf of Tri-Valley REACH and those we serve in our community; we are grateful and honored to be a part of this year’s Holiday Fund. The generous funds awarded to REACH are instrumental to our mission of creating inclusive communities by providing affordable and independent living opportunities for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
For a small nonprofit such as REACH, the social awareness the Pleasanton Weekly Holiday Fund creates in our community is significant and impactful. Unless you have a loved one, family member or know of an acquaintance who has a disability and is seeking to live independently in an affordable home, REACH is not on your radar. The exposure we receive from this program and the articles you have published on our behalf, are priceless. We are humbled by your support.
This year’s funds will go toward the construction costs of REACH’s first ADU. This project is halfway completed, and the result will be a beautiful, safe, and extremely affordable home for an adult with I/DD beginning their journey to independence. Thank you for being a part of our mission.
— Kay King, board chair, REACH
Thank you, and an update
I wanted to send you a quick note to thank you one more time, for an article that Dolores Fox Ciardelli wrote on our social initiative HumanKIND Cookies (“Valley Views: Cookies for a cause” in March 2021).
At the time, I was 14 and my sister Sara was 16. We had started baking and selling cookies in 2020 (during the pandemic) to support families in need in our parents’ home country. So many local people trusted us with their orders after the article was published, and four years later, we continue to sell our cookies to fund food and school supplies.
We have raised over $35,000 during this period of time with even local businesses trusting us with their Christmas gifts. Recently, I started selling the cookies at Gene’s Fine Foods. They were incredibly generous, giving me the opportunity to demo the cookies and buying the cookies only to support our goal. We are in awe with our community support.

PPIE is grateful
Thank you so much for your donation to the Pleasanton Partnerships in Education Foundation (PPIE). You are making a real difference for the students of Pleasanton with your support.
We sincerely appreciate your generous support! With your help, we are able to fund supplemental staffing at all schools across the district, districtwide wellness support and grant making programs.
— Andrea Wilson, executive director, PPIE
With gratitude
Thank you so much for your generous donation of $5,171 and for your support of our organization.
Your contribution will allow us to feed more of those going through a cancer experience as well as their caregiver.
Our organic, high-quality meals provide nutritional support at a time when it is needed most. We remain excited for the growth and further development of our meal and nutrition education programs, both of which lend crucial support to our neighbors in need throughout the Tri-Valley.
Please accept our sincere gratitude for your partnership and for allowing us to help those in need.
— Lisa McNaney, executive director, Culinary Angels

Thank you, Holiday Fund
On behalf of Axis Community Health, I would like to thank the Pleasanton Weekly for their generous donation of $5,171 through the 2023-24 Holiday Fund. Your support is invaluable in furthering our mission to provide comprehensive health care services to medically underserved populations in the Tri-Valley area.
With your donation, we can further address our community’s pressing need for behavioral health services. As we witness a growing demand for mental health care, particularly among low-income and uninsured individuals, your contribution will make a tangible difference in bridging the gap in access to essential services.
The funds raised through the Pleasanton Weekly Holiday Fund will be specifically allocated to providing critical behavioral health counseling services to those who lack insurance or are underinsured.
We would like to express our deep gratitude for Pleasanton Weekly’s support, emphasizing the pivotal role your contribution plays in advancing our mission. Together, we are breaking barriers and promoting health equity, ensuring that everyone has access to the mental health services they need, regardless of their financial circumstances.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration to create a healthier, more resilient community for all!

Holiday Fund makes a difference
We are deeply grateful for the Pleasanton Weekly Holiday Fund’s donation of $5,171, which Valley Humane Society received via electronic wire transfer from the Embarcadero Media Foundation on March 20, 2024.
This gift will make a real difference in the lives of animals in need, providing them with a second chance and a brighter future. On behalf of all of us at Valley Humane Society and the animals in our care, I want to thank you. This gift makes possible services and programs which change the lives of thousands of companion animals and the people who love them each year.
With the help of caring donors and community organizations like yours, Valley Humane Society has successfully facilitated the adoption of more than 100 animals into loving forever homes this year. In addition to these adoptions, we are thrilled to announce that we have performed 1,143 spay and neuter surgeries at Valley Humane’s Phil Scholz Veterinary Surgery Center in the first two months of 2024.
Your generous gift will directly contribute to this essential work, ensuring that more animals receive the care and loving homes they need and deserve. Thank you for believing in our mission and for your continued support.
Together, we are making a difference in the lives of animals and creating a more compassionate world for all beings.
— Melanie Sadek, president, Valley Humane Society
