A gaggle of graduating Girl Scouts will be seen crossing the Golden Gate Bridge on Saturday in what is expected to be the largest group in the 28-year history of the Northern California branch’s annual ceremony.

About 8,000 Girl Scouts from California and six other states are expected this year to cross the bridge from Marin County to San Francisco for the yearly event marking their advancement from Junior Girl Scouts to Cadettes.

The massive event will also mark the second-largest gathering in the bridge’s history, second only to the bridge’s 50th anniversary

celebration, according to event organizers.

The event begins at 9 a.m. and will be followed by a party at Crissy Field in San Francisco’s Presidio.
