The Danville Police Department will be offering a one-day Citizens Police Academy on March 23.
This Citizen’s Police Academy is an all-day program where participants will learn about the intricacies of the Police Department, including patrol, investigations, traffic, the K-9 unit and school resources. It also gives attendees an opportunity to meet and talk with others who have completed the program and are now working as volunteers.
After successful completion of the Citizens Police Academy, people are able to apply and become a “VIP” Volunteer in Policing. Danville’s Volunteers in Policing have the opportunity to work in the office, at special events, and conducting neighborhood and school patrols.
The academy will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anyone interested in participating in this program can contact Claudia Ray at 314-3704.
The academy will take place at 510 La Gonda Way, Danville.
