While we haven’t quite lived up to “2001: A Space Odyssey” and that whole flying car thing hasn’t planned out, Danville residents are still hold hope for technology of the future. This week, Roving Reporter Stan Wharton went to the post office (perhaps to drop off some intergalactic mail) and asked residents What technological innovation would you like to see over the next decade?

Excellent question and JOHN provided a profound answer. The all-inclusive network as municipal wifi for all applications and uses.
The technology exists but the profitability plan doesn’t. Apple is close to delivery and networks only need bandwidth to make it happen.

Cheap renewable energy that puts us on a road to reduced dependence on foreign supply and dirty domestic sources.
LEDs emitting UV light suitable for water sanitization with low power,to solve the worldwide potable water problem.
Significantly improved birth control technologies that manage to avoid cultural objections.
Neural/Electronic connection that enables virtual display that appears naturally in your field of vision, as distinguishable from reality as is appropriate.
A viable micro-transaction environment for payment and consumption of things that are too expensive with current technology that can provide adequate privacy, anonymity, and accountability. This would allow fractional-cent charges/payment for the equivalent of web-page access.

A way to neutralize nuclear waste, and…..
affordable cell phone jammers (snarky grin on Derek’s face) that we can mount on our dashboards.
As for the birth control that no one can object to… well, I’m with you there 100% but as long as there are fundies of any religion out there I can only say Good Luck with that!
