An 8-month-old girl died Tuesday from injuries she suffered in a four-car collision last Thursday in Walnut Creek and the driver of one of the vehicles has been charged with murder and DUI, police said.

According to police, young Camilla Garza died at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland days after the crash. Her father Hector Garza, 45, of Walnut Creek died on Thursday in the immediate aftermath of the crash.

Police said that earlier Tuesday, Contra Costa County prosecutors filed murder charges against 35-year-old Jessica Martin of Tennessee.

Police said Martin suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital where she was arrested after the crash that occurred at 6:32 p.m. Thrusday on South Broadway. Police said Martin was traveling south on South Broadway while the three other vehicles were traveling north on South Broadway.

Martin was scheduled to appear in Contra Costa County Superior Court on Wednesday morning for arraignment. She is being held on $2.1 million bail.

An online fundraiser through GoFundMe set up on behalf of Kirsten Garza, Hector’s wife, had raised more than $75,000 of its $80,000 goal as of 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Organizers say the money will be used for funeral expenses. When it was set up Saturday, they were also trying to raise money for Camilla’s medical expenses.
