A person died by suicide in a Bishop Ranch parking lot on Wednesday, according to the San Ramon Police Department.

The incident unfolded in public, in the parking lot between San Ramon Toyota on Executive Parkway and the office complex next door on Bishop Drive, according to SRPD.

At approximately 11:31 a.m., officers made contact with the person who had expressed suicidal thoughts while talking with their spouse, SRPD said.

Shortly after making contact with police, the person fired a self-inflicted gunshot that proved fatal while standing directly in front of their vehicle, according to police. Additional details about the person were not confirmed.

While officers continue to investigate the scene, portions of the parking lot directly between 4000 Executive Parkway and 2451 Bishop Drive will be closed for a “lengthy period of time,” according to SRPD.
