Building off growth seen throughout 2019, Bishop Ranch officials have announced that SAP has decided to expand its lease for its San Ramon corporate office.

An international market leader in enterprise application software, SAP has leased an additional 90,000 square feet bringing its total workspace at the 2600 Camino Ramon campus to nearly 235,000 square feet, according to Bishop Ranch officials.

“Bishop Ranch offers our team the best of both worlds — a nationally admired place to work, located in one of America’s most livable cities,” said Dwain Christensen, SAP’s director of global real estate and facilities, in a statement. “Bishop Ranch’s extraordinary amenities and nearby transit options foster a healthy work-life balance for our employees, while the city of San Ramon gives them access to outstanding neighborhoods, schools, restaurants, stores, parks and trails.”

After initially relocating its regional offices to Bishop Ranch in 2015, SAP continues to consolidate its offices from elsewhere in the Bay Area to San Ramon, and now will have more than 700 SAP employees will work at its Bishop Ranch workspace.

SAP’s corporate neighbors include AT&T, Bank of the West, 24 Hour Fitness, Paychex, FedEx, Sprint and Armanino — one of the largest accounting firms in California. Bishop Ranch officials say the diverse collection of top tier companies found in Bishop Ranch has made it into “a full-service business community unlike any other throughout the region.”

“SAP’s expansion is an example of the steady growth at Bishop Ranch by tenants both large and small,” Alexander Mehran Jr., president and CEO of Sunset Development Company, said in a statement. “We’re honored that SAP continues to find value in Bishop Ranch’s work and lifestyle environment, and that we’re able to provide them with the additional space they need and the flexibility to grow.”

In 2019 alone new and renewal activity for business space totaled nearly 1 million square feet, with Mehran adding that these figures are increasing proof of the East Bay’s growing reputation as an outstanding place to do business.

Headlining these new and expanded leases that now call Bishop Ranch home include commercial real estate company WeWork, which signed a lease for 86,000 square feet, and game development studio created by PUBG Corporation, Striking Distance Studios, which leased 25,000 square feet at Bishop Ranch 1 for its new headquarters.

Bishop Ranch officials say WeWork and Striking Distance Studios are expected to open new workspaces in the first quarter of 2020.

“With SAP’s expanded lease, the 2600 campus is at 94 percent occupancy, underscoring the demand for high-quality workspace in the East Bay,” Mehran added.
