A grand-opening ceremony is slated for this week in celebration of the newly updated play area at the Danville South Park.
The renovated playground, intended to serve a range of ages and abilities, includes a new primary play structure and additional elements for climbing, balancing, spinning and swinging, Danville town officials said in a statement.
As part of the project to redesign the playground, a sand play area has also been relocated to improve the park’s layout and accessibility, according to town officials. Existing trees at the park have been maintained to preserve the park’s character and natural shade, they added.
“This project reflects the Town of Danville’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing parks and recreation facilities,” town officials said.
Located at 1885 Camino Ramon, the ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 20), regardless of weather.
