Douglas Grimsley Allen Sr. passed away Dec. 20 at the age of 90.
He was a native Californian, who was raised in Lemoore and graduated from UC Berkeley. He lived in Danville for the last two-and-a-half years and before that in San Mateo for 50 years.
He enjoyed an interesting career as a special agent with the FBI from 1941 to his retirement in 1976. At Cal he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity and played junior varsity football.
His special love was his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Joan, who died in 1994 and his grandson, Tim Allen, who died in 2001. He is survived by sons Rich and daughter-in-law Jill; Steve and daughter-in-law Joanne; and Doug Jr. and daughter-in-law Claudia; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a niece and nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, at Wilson & Kratzer Chapel of San Ramon Valley, 825 Hartz Way. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Special Olympics Northern California, 1325 G Street, NW, Suite 500, Washington, D.C. 20005-3104 in memory of Douglas Allen.
