What can be done about pit bulls?
Jan Farrand, dog owner: Owners have to be responsible to train the dogs, keep them on a leash, and not let them run loose. If I had a pit bull, I would never let it run loose. It’s just like with kids, you have to be responsible.
Tony Lukaszewski, retired firefighter: Eliminate the breed completely, or at least don’t allow ownership, the way we don’t allow ownership of tigers.
Negar Dadgari, student: I don’t think we should kill them. Let them be with nature, like lions. We don’t kill lions, so we shouldn’t kill pit bulls.
John Parker, retired college professor: There are dangerous breeds of pit bulls. With a lot of other things that have a potential for danger, owners needs to be responsible.
Gillian Johnson, homemaker: All the pit bulls in England have to be muzzled, and it seems to work to eliminate attacks. If the dog is out in public, it should be spayed or neutered, but it should definitely be muzzled.
