If the propositions in the special election Nov. 8 don’t pass, do you think Gov. Schwarzenegger will be re-elected?

Betty Overhoff, East Bay chairwoman for World Affairs Council: Yes, I feel he should be re-elected. California has overwhelming problems that need to be addressed and no one governor will do a perfect job addressing those problems. Gov. Schwarzenegger has given it his best shot – not perfect, but he did address some of the problems. If we put someone else in charge, how much money will they add to the budget to make the public feel good? Scary!

Jeff Hendrick, electrical engineer: I don’t think it matters what the outcome of the election is. There have been so many negative media ad campaigns against him that of course his approval rating is going to be low. I think what matters is what people think in the months prior to the next gubernatorial election. Anything is possible.

Tony Carnemolla, locksmith: I hope he’ll win, but I think he will have a difficult time if his propositions don’t pass.

David Miller, home security: This is coming from a Democrat, but I like Arnold. I think he does have a good chance of being re-elected. I listened to his debate and I support all his propositions. He doesn’t need the fame or the power or the money. He is a governor of the people, for the people, and by the people.

Bob Burch, investment advisor: Yes, I think he can be re-elected because there are other issues to consider. He has done some good things for the state. It also will depend on who the Democrats run. I believe because of his wife, Maria, he appeals to both sides of the political spectrum. He’s an environmentalist and yet also fiscally conservative who wants to stop excessive spending.
