City Center Bishop Ranch is readying for its annual Holi Festival returning this Sunday.
Each year the event transforms Bishop Ranch Drive into a vibrant celebration of color, music and community. Recognized as an ancient Hindu celebration, Holi marks the arrival of spring and the triumph of light over darkness, according to a statement from event organizers.
The celebration features music from a DJ, dance performances and traditional cultural arts such as henna — a reddish dye prepared from the dried and powdered leaves of the henna tree commonly used for temporary body art — and rangoli, a traditional form of Indian art that involves creating colorful patterns on a floor or at the entrance of a home as a symbol of luck and prosperity.

The throwing of colors, a hallmark of Holi symbolizing renewal and joy, begins at 3 p.m., with Holi powder available for purchase.
Now in its 15th year, the festival draws thousands of attendees annually, making it one of the Bay Area’s most anticipated cultural events. This year’s celebration is set for Sunday (March 23) from 2-4 p.m.
“What began as a modest event in a parking lot has blossomed into a full-fledged celebration that brings the neighborhood together in a display of culture and camaraderie,” organizers said. “At City Center Bishop Ranch, San Ramon’s lively open-air dining, shopping and entertainment destination, Holi unites people of all backgrounds to share in this timeless tradition, creating a joyful and immersive experience for the community.”
