A wave of roughly 50 earthquakes was recorded in the Tri-Valley over the weekend, ranging up to a preliminary magnitude of 4.0 struck southeast of San Ramon about 8 p.m. Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Revised data showed the 4.0-magnitude temblor struck at 7:56 p.m. Friday, three miles southeast of the city, at a depth of 6.2 miles. A quake of 3.8 magnitude occurred at 7:49 p.m., two miles southeast of San Ramon, the USGS said. 

Nearly 30 smaller earthquakes continued off and on overnight Friday into Saturday morning centered in the San Ramon area, according to USGS. 

A run of nearly 20 temblors arrived in San Ramon between Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, with the largest at 3.9-magnitude at 6:31 p.m. Saturday and the next largest at 3.0-magnitude 22 minutes later, according to USGS.
