The San Ramon City Council is poised to receive a presentation Tuesday on the city’s updated policy for allocating its athletic facilities among sports programs.
Newly renamed, the athletic facilities co-sponsorship policy is meant to support emerging sports, provide details about the process of scheduling and allocating facilities, “strengthen opportunities for facility enhancements through partnerships” and improve the document’s organization, according to a staff report by parks and community services director Henry Perezalonso and program manager Keith Haase.
“The overall goal of the policy remains unchanged: to support organizations that provide valuable recreational opportunities to the community while ensuring the greatest number of San Ramon residents have access to city facilities,” according to the staff report.
The update comes as the city has seen “tremendous growth in local sports participation, including new and emerging sports organizations”, the policy states.
The update has undergone public review through consideration by the Parks and Community Services Commission and Parks and Community Services Policy Committee.
The San Ramon City Council meeting is set to start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 24) at San Ramon City Hall at 7000 Bollinger Canyon Road. The agenda is available here.

As part of the consent calendar — items typically approved with a single motion — the council is poised to authorize the execution of a grant agreement worth $120,000 with the Federal Highway Administration to develop a Safe Streets and Roads for All Vision Zero Action Plan. In addition to accepting the federal funding, the city would contribute $30,000 to the project over two years, according to the agenda packet.
