Nonprofit organization Donor Network West announced the appointment of William “Bubba” Paris as the first executive director for its new foundation division.

Paris – a former professional football player – oversees operations, fundraising opportunities and partnerships for the Donor Network West Foundation, which is based in San Ramon.
Donor Network West aims to save lives through eye, organ and tissue donations and transplants.
The organization’s foundation division was created in 2023 as a way to further the nonprofit’s mission and support donor and transplant recipient families. The foundation funds clinical research and seeks to educate the public on organ donation.
“I am proud to serve as the executive director of the Donor Network West Foundation,” Paris said in a statement announcing his appointment.
From 1983 to 1990, Paris played as an offensive tackle for the San Francisco 49ers. He is a three-time Super Bowl champion.
Now a resident of Tracy, Paris is an author and motivational speaker.
“This Foundation stands in profound reverence for the ultimate act of love – the gift of life offered by selfless donors and their families. With unwavering dedication, we pledge to honor their sacrifice by tirelessly ensuring that the resources and tools for successful transplantation are readily available, transforming this sacred exchange of love into tangible miracles,” added the new executive director.
In 2023, Donor Network West helped to facilitate over 470 donations. The organization said that most donors left behind family members, having donated posthumously.
The Foundation also supports the nonprofit’s Aftercare Program which provides care, resources and grief support for families of deceased organ donors.
Janice Whaley, president and CEO of Donor Network West, shared remarks about Paris’ new position.
“Under William Bubba Paris’ leadership and drive, the Donor Network West Foundation will be able to build upon our efforts to further our reach within the communities we serve and effectively provide hope for donor families, transplant recipients and those on the waiting list,” said Whaley.
She added, “we are fortunate to have someone of William’s caliber and compassion on our team to provide hope now.”
The foundation is set to hold its inaugural fundraising golf tournament, Chipping Away 4 Hope on April 29 at Ruby Hill Golf Club in Pleasanton. Paris will emcee the event.
