The East Bay Athletic League strutted its stuff Saturday in the North Coast Section cross country championships at Hayward High.

In the two divisions – D-I and D-II – the EBAL took the team titles for both boys and girls.

Dublin took the D-I boys’ race, accounting for only 24 points, with California finishing second at 74. In D-II, the Granada boys were the winner with 70 points, while Amador Valley was second at 110.

On the girls’ side for D-I, Dougherty Valley was the winner with 35 points, with California second at 66 points. The D-II girls’ team race was won by Monte Vista with 58 points.

The Dougherty girls had just 32 seconds between the Wildcats’ first and fifth runners. It was the fifth title for Dougherty, winning in 2009, 2017, 2021, 2022 and this year.

CIF NorCal water polo

In the girls’ brackets, top-seeded Carondelet took the NorCal title with a 10-6 win over No. 2 seed Sacred Heart Prep.

In the girls’ D-III tournament, Amador Valley was seeded sixth and fell 17-5 on the road to Los Altos, the eventual runner up.

In the D-I boys’ tournament, Sacred Heart Prep took the title with a 11-10 win over Miramonte in the finals. Along the way, SHP took out a pair of EBAL teams.

In the first No. 8 San Ramon Valley fell to the top-seeded SHP 16-10. In the semifinals it was a 9-8 win over No. 4 De La Salle. The Spartans beat the Menlo School 11-10.

NCS football

De La Salle won another Open Division crown with a 24-17 win over Pittsburg at Diablo Valley College.

In the D-II tournament, it will be Clayton Valley against Monte Vista in the finals. Clayton beat top-seeded Campolindo 21-17 in one semifinal, while Monte Vista beat California 35-21 in the other.

In the D-IV semifinals, top-seeded Hayward beat No. 4 Granada 41-18.

CIF State girls’ golf

Southern California got the best of NorCal, taking the top two team spots, and the individual title in the CIF State championships played Nov. 19 at Poppy Hills. 

Santa Margarita took the team crown with a team score of 355. Torrey Pines was second at 363, with Stevenson of Pebble Beach finishing third at 367.

Rancho Bernardo (384), Carondelet (395) and Granite Bay (401) were the other three times in the tournament,

Victoria Cui of Crystal Springs-Upland was the individual champion at 4-under. Lily Peng of Carondelet and Erin Lee of Dougherty Valley were both at 1-under, tied for seventh.
