One person died and two others were hurt in a traffic collision at the intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Ramon in Danville on Saturday afternoon, according to town police.

The crash involved a minivan and a truck at around 1:15 p.m. Saturday (March 1), with Danville Police Department officers arriving to find the truck overturned in the prominent intersection just off Interstate 680. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. 

A passenger in the truck was critically injured and ultimately died at the scene despite life-saving measures attempted by San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District paramedics, according to police. The decedent, whose identity was not revealed, was described only as an adult passenger. 

The driver of the truck, who is an adult, sustained minor injuries and the two surviving passengers – an adult and a teenager – did not appear to be injured, police said. The driver and sole occupant of the minivan sustained minor injuries. 

All four survivors were transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for medical evaluation, police said.

It marks the first fatal collision in 2025 in the town of Danville. 

The intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Ramon was closed for more than six hours Saturday because of the emergency response, police investigation and cleanup. The roadway fully reopened at around 7:50 p.m. Saturday, according to town officials.
