Police in Walnut Creek are investigating an armed robbery and shooting that occurred this weekend, the department said Monday.
Just before 4 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the Kwik Serv gas station at 1387 S. California Blvd on a report of an armed robbery. Police discovered an employee suffering from a gunshot wound and he was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to survive.
According to police, two masked suspects entered the store and tried to steal cigarettes. When the employee confronted them, a struggle ensued and the employee was shot.
At about 6 p.m. Sunday evening, detectives arrested a 16-year-old juvenile with the help of the Oakland Police Department. The suspect was booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of attempted robbery and attempted homicide, according to police.
