Local businesses in Danville are now eligible to seek a boost from town government funds that have been allocated to support novel promotion efforts aimed at drawing new customers and spreading the word about their brands.

The Town Council approved $25,000 in funding for the program over the summer, which gives local organizations and brick-and-mortar businesses the opportunity to be reimbursed for up to $5,000 for events and programs that increase awareness and patronage.

“The program is intended to encourage the community to “shop local” by supporting multiple businesses collaborating on a single event or project,” Town spokesperson Jenn Starnes said in an announcement Tuesday.

The program is a continuation of previous years’ efforts to give boosts to local businesses, with examples from successful efforts last year including collaborations such as Sip and Stroll, the Museum of the San Ramon Valley’s Shops and Hops event, and the Lions Club restaurant walk.

In addition to welcoming collaborative events across organizations and businesses, town officials are seeking to provide the grants for projects and events that offer hands-on experiences for shoppers, as well as promoting those events, and which incorporate the town’s “Live Locally” motto into branding efforts.

Applications are now open for the grant program for events and projects between July 1 this year and June 30, 2024. More information is available at danville.ca.gov.
